COURSE AIMS

To acquire critical skills on the psychological paths of religious identity and on the specific aspect of religious communication in the current multicultural context.

COURSE CONTENT

Psychology of communication in the contemporary cultural context. Religious communication and communication on religion.

The psychology of religion: subject, models, methods The multi-level interdisciplinary paradigm of Paloutzian and Park.

The neuropsychological perspective. Neuroscience and personal religiosity: the brain, mind and soul. The question of Neurotheology.

The psychodynamic perspective. Winnicott’s model of transitional phenomena and its application to cultural, aesthetic and religious experience. The attachment theory and religiosity.

The psychosocial perspective. J. A. Belzen’s cultural psychology of religion. The religious identity: processes, conflicts, drifts. Pluralism and fundamentalism. “Post-modern” religion and spirituality.

The psychodevelopmental perspective. Religion along the life cycle. Religious education and socialization in childhood and adolescence. Principles of religious psychopedagogy.
